Kindergarten to Year 6

At Wahroonga Prep we seek to provide a carefully balanced sequential teaching and learning program using the NSW Curriculum as our foundation. We pride ourselves on our personalised approach, with small class sizes enabling our dedicated teachers to seek to know the individual learning needs, preferences, strengths and weaknesses of every child.

Seven Key Learning Areas are covered:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science and Technology
  • Human Society & its Environment (HSIE)
  • Creative and Practical Arts
  • Personal Development, Health, and Physical Education (PDHPE), and
  • Languages Other Than English (LOTE) – Japanese

While all these areas are covered comprehensively, learning is enriched through the provision of university-trained Specialist Teachers in the following areas:

  • Science and Technology
  • Enrichment
  • Learning Support
  • PDHPE
  • Information Literacy (Library)
  • Japanese Language and Culture
  • Music
  • Religious Education
  • Art

Not only do our Specialist Teachers add value to classroom teaching and learning, they also add value to the extra-curricular offerings, which combine to enrich the learning experience for our children, whether they be struggling with their learning, forging ahead, or somewhere in the middle.

Drama, music (choirs, ensembles, bands, Year Two violin program), leadership, community service, basketball and other sports, excursions and incursions, robotics, cooking, craft, school newspaper, chess and other activities all add to the richness that is the Wahroonga Prep experience.
